WOLVERHAMPTON begin their defence of the top flight title when they head to Rye House in the SGB Premiership tonight (Saturday, April 1, 7pm).

The Parrys International Wolves, who won the 2016 Elite League in spectacular style, will be looking to bounce back from a heavy defeat in the Elite Shield at Poole on Wednesday, by taking points off the league's newcomers in Hertfordshire.

On Friday, Swedish duo Jacob Thorssell and Freddie Lindgren finished runners-up in the SGB Premiership Pairs and the Wolves skipper is looking to continue his early season form in their league opener.

Said Lindgren: "Me and Jacob were very happy with our performance and the result on Friday.

"Neither of us have been to Somerset before so to go there and finish second was a great result for us I think.

"Now we go to another new track to us at Rye House and we go there with a bit of confidence.

"While we were disappointed with the result at Poole, that was a bit of a warm up meeting for the league fixtures.

"Rye House are a new club to the league, they've got a fair few new riders to their team and we need to make the most of that.

"They won't have had chance to get dialled in there yet and we'll be looking to take advantage.

"If we could come away with at least a point that would be great - but we're going there for the win to take us into our home meeting against Leicester on Monday!"

Rye House include Scott Nicholls and Chris Harris, who have ten British Championship titles between them, as well as former British Under-21 Champ Edward Kennett.
