JACOB Thorssell is set to make his first UK public appearance since suffering horrific injuries at Wolverhampton last season.

The popular Swede, who broke his back, is well on the road to fitness ahead of the new season and is set to fly over to join skipper Rory Schlein at an open day hosted by club sponsors Parrys International next Sunday, January 14.

The duo will be available to meet supporters, sign autographs and have pictures taken between 10.30am and 1.30pm.

Dave Parry of Parrys International said: “We have invited Jacob over and it will be really nice to see both him and Rory.

“We all know what a dreadful crash it was for Jacob in the play-off semi-final with Belle Vue and Peter Adams (team manager) admitted both he and Freddie Lindgren were a millimetre away from more serious injuries.

“We look forward to welcoming them and also the general public who will be made most welcome.”

Parrys International are based at Landywood Green in Cheslyn Hay and the event always pulls in a bumper turnout with plenty of speedway fans. They will be displaying their stunning fleet of coaches as well as launching their 2018 tour brochure.
