RESULT: BRITISH FINAL

Monday June 11, 2018
WOLVERHAMPTON’s representatives endured mixed nights in Monday’s 2018 British Final.

Local lad Ashley Morris battled much harder than his three point tally suggests, while Rory Schlein was pipped to a semi-final spot, missing out by a single point.

But Kyle Howarth was able to qualify for the semis after a solid ten point haul from his programmed rides.

And despite temporarily leading, he eventually found himself at the back of the pack in his home city.

Howarth said: “Every heat I had was such a hard race.

“I had last pick in the semi and I ended up with gate four which was always going to be a task.

“It was a shame to do all the hard work, get to that semi and then get knocked out. But all-in-all it was a great night.

“It was some nice progress for me, it’s a stepping stone, I’ve done myself proud and I can keep my head held high.”

King’s Lynn captain Robert Lambert was crowned this year’s British Champion and will now be wild-card at the Grand Prix in Cardiff on July 21.

Meanwhile, Wolverhampton resume their Premiership campaign at Somerset on Wednesday (June 13, 7.30).
